Veteran Higher Education Seminar

September 19, 2015 By United States Vets

While autumn approaches with a brigade of school buses and exciting class registrations, let us not forget the educational needs of our veterans. Many men and women made the conscious decision to forgo college or put the project on hold until their service in the military was fulfilled.

But when the decision is made to resume their academic endeavors, the veteran again runs into a complex maze of paperwork. Not only does (or did) the vet have to cope with the world of integration, this next step into academia is a challenge as well.

But have no fear….United States Vets Inc. is here (for those classic Underdog fans)! Veterans in search of answers to those daunting college questions and swimming in a sea of veteran applications, mark your calendars for our organization’s first Veteran Higher Education Seminar on Saturday, Oct 3rd, 11 am – 3 pm, in the McMaster Room at the Toledo Public Library’s Main branch on Michigan Street in downtown Toledo. Speakers will include the director of Military and Veteran Affairs, Lt. Haraz Ghanbari from the University of Toledo Military Center. Speakers will also be present to discuss college issues, career forecasts that best serve the veteran community and how the city plays a part in their future. The seminar is open to the public but is specially designed to meet the veteran’s questions and concerns. Registration is not necessary but is encouraged. Contact Leslie at [email protected] for details.
