February’s Compatriot Meeting entitled, Navigating-The Justice System, Programs for Veterans, attracted several veterans who had questions and concerns about particular procedures and resources. Speaker Thomas Luettke, Reentry Coordinator and member of the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council, spoke to veterans about programs that assist those in the criminal justice system with reentry. But they deal with many of the same issues – employment, PTSD, education, housing and support. As the veteran population continues to grow it is also diversifying. Free Tax Services Available

Service members and their families can obtain free tax consultations and tax-filing software through Military OneSource. Also, the Department of Defense has teamed up with H&R Block to offer free tax services. Military OneSource tax consultants are available January through April 15, seven days a week from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. Eastern time at 1-800-342-9647. [Read more…]
